As an animator, I’m not confine myself to a specific field or a clearly defined
career path. In my opinion, the essence of art lies in conveying emotions and
ideas. Whether it is animation, game design, or other forms of visual art, they
all share a kind of commonalities. I hope to use my graduate studies as my
period of exploration and experimentation, allowing me to try as many as
possibilities as I can, thus providing sufficient references for my future plans.
After graduation, first I will try to find an internship. if I choose to come back to
my country, entering a domestic animation company might not be a good choice.
This is not only a matter of personal preference but also closely tied to the state
of the industry. In my country, for animation industry, constrained by polices and
market conditions, the compensation level is not competitive compared with
other related industries. Besides, with long project cycles and the challenge of
balancing investment and returns, many animators face significant survival
pressures. Therefore, it is important to find a balance between personal career
planning and reality. I prefer to some 2D animation post related game
companies, such as miHoYo and Hypergryph. But these companies now have
limited openings, primarily in Live2D and a small number of storyboard artist
roles. However, as industry demand update and those positions gradually
decrease, it means that the importance of quickly adapting to new directions or
learning new skills to remain competitive.
In conclusion, my career plan is not a fixed goal but a dynamic process with
change of industry environment, personal growth, and changing interesting. I
hope it can refine my technical skills and thinkings through my graduate study.
Whether or not I finally go into the animation industry, I still hope my passion for
art and creation will remain unwavering.
